Vandals Destroy Historic Terlingua Ghost Town

TERLINGUA (Ben Caxton) — A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of vandals who knocked down four structures at the Terlingua Ghost Town between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The ruins, located on private property but designated as a historic site, are the remains of homes of quicksilver miners from the 1880’s, and have become a popular destination with tourists. Late-shift workers at the Starlight Theater Restaurant and Bar did not notice anything amiss when they left Saturday night. The damage was discovered the next morning. If you were in the area and saw anything out-of-the-ordinary you’re asked to please contact the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office at (432) 837-3488.
