Van Horn Schools Hire A New Principal

CULBERSON COUNTY, TX (Ben Caxton) — According to a report in the Van Horn Advocate, CCAISD Trustees met in special session on Tuesday night to consider the position of principal for the Van Horn Schools. After the opening activities, Superintendant Dalia Benavidez reported that the Board was considering Aaron Hannah as a candidate for the position of principal. The Board immediately convened in Executive Session to discuss the candidate being recommended by Benavidez. When the meeting was reconvened, the Board unanimously approved a contract with Aaron Hannah as principal for the 2017-2018 school year. Hannah currently serves as the Special Education Coordinator at Wylie ISD in the Dallas area. He has been certified as a principal for Grades EC-12 since 2008 as listed on his Texas Educator Certificate. Although the contract start date is not until July 1, Hannah will be joining other District staff for professional development at the Ron Clark Academy in Georgia in June. CCAISD is sending up to 24 staff members to this training using grant funds provided by Chevron. Superintendant Benavides herself is a candidate for the position of principal at Permian and Odessa high schools in the Ector Independent School District according to information released last week.
