Van Horn Robot Sees Action In Lubbock

VAN HORN, TX (Ben Caxton) — The Van Horn Robotics Team is in Lubbock. The team, who calls themselves the “2613 Protobots” are competing in the Hub City Regional against teams from as far away as California, Illinois, Mexico, and even Turkey. The team has been working for months on their creation with a little help from engineers at Blue Origin who volunteered their time to tutor the students in the use of electrical tools, and software programming.Van Horn’s entry measures about three feet by three feet by two feet in size, and is built to be able to scale a rope under it’s own power. The matches run through Saturday, March 4. If you’re herading that way to watch you’ll want to head for the Panhandle South Plains Fair at 105 East Broadway in Lubbock.
