Van Horn Council To Tag Pets, Cap Rate Increases

VAN HORN, TX (Ben Caxton) — In business Wednesday night the Van Horn Council approved city-sponsored micro-chipping of area pets. The chips can be scanned to identify the animal so it can be returned to its owner. As a bonus, an annual license for the pet will no longer be required if the animal has the implant. The council also passed a resolution to suspend a coming 20% rate high from El Paso Electric for 90 days. The provider is being sued by El Paso County to stop the drastic increase and if the suit is successful, Van Horn will benefit. They also created a new checking account to accept funds for the every five year Jubilee celebration and approved a contract with a company to survey the public on gas services as required by state law.
