Three Day Fire School In Brewster County

BREWSTER COUNTY (Ben Caxton) — Terlingua Fire and EMS is hosting a 3 day fire school. Today, volunteer firefighters will be involved in live fires in a controlled fire house. Departments involved include Terlingua Fire and EMS, Presidio, Marathon, and Brewster County Emergency Management Coordinator and Veterans Service Officers along with the National Park Service from several different National Parks around the country. The farthest traveled has been about 1700 miles. County Judge Cano and Commissioners paid a visit to the class on Tuesday after the Commissioner court meeting. Wednesday the fires reached about 1,000 degrees in the fire house. All the folks each had a chance to work in the fire house, conduct fire apparatus operations and take their turn at different tactics. This class is sponsored by the Terlingua Fire and EMS each year. All departments in the area are encouraged to attend to learn the newest tactics available.
