Ten Border Drug Busts In One Day In El Paso

EL PASO (Ben Caxton) — Customs and Border Protection officers seized nearly 1,000 pounds of marijuana in ten busts in a single day, Tuesday, in El Paso. The estimated street value of the drugs? Almost $800,000. The largest seizure of the day occurred just before 3 p.m. at the Bridge of the Americas international crossing when a 2003 Ford F150 pickup truck arrived from Mexico with 191 marijuana-filled bundles stashed in a false compartment in the bed of the truck. The 41-year-old male driver turned out to be a U.S. citizen. He was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to face charges.
