Red Flag Warning For The Tri-Counties

TRI COUNTIES (Ben Caxton) — A Red Flag Warning is in effect today across the tri-county area. The National Weather Service reminds everyone to avoid activities that may produce outdoor flames and sparks as any fires that result will likely spread rapidly. The fire hazard is being caused by typical West Texas weather for this time of year that includes humidities of just 10 to 15 percent, with southwest winds blowing at 25 to 40 miles per hour with higher gusts. Winds in the mountains will top 60 miles per hour at times. Temperatures today are expected to be ten to fifteen degrees above normal as well.
