CCAISD Audit Questioned, But Approved

VAN HORN (Ben Caxton) — The Culberson Coutny Alamoore Board of Trustees this week received the straight truth from an auditor hired to review the district’s finances. In what is know as an “unmodified opinion” the auditor reviewed the details of the audit for the year which ended last August 31st. The good news showed that the districts account balance had increased by $1.1M over that time. The bad news was that internal “control issues” were found regarding credit card purchases with the district’s money – receipts had been turned in, but the receipts often lacked itemizations. After a lengthy discussion the board voted to approve the audit as presented. The Van Horn Advocate has file an open records request to make the audit public.
