MARFA, TX (Ben Caxton) — Approximately $250,000 for the Marfa Municipal Airport was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission at its February meeting. The funds will be used for planned airport improvements, which include engineering and design studies for pavement improvements. A project consultant will be selected this spring. Costs will be funded through Presidio County and TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system. In addition to runway deficiencies conditions of the hangars at the airport had deteriorated so badly the county voted to stop renewing all leases at the airport last May.
