58 New Oil Rigs Ring in the New Year

The Permian Basin has become one of the most active oil fields in the United States.

(Permian Basin, TX) – Newly released figures show the number of oil rigs in the Permian Basin have grown substantially over 2016. As of the start of the new year, three new rigs have joined the fleet, bring the total in operation to 267. That’s double the number of operating oil drilling rigs over the low point last year. Reeves County posted the highest number in all of the basin with 40 rigs. Locally Culberson and Pecos counties each gained one. Culberson now has ten rigs, and Pecos county 7.
